There are a lot of lovely places that you must visit while on vacation in China. This country may not be your first option as a holiday destitation, but when you decide to give it a go, you will not be disappointed.

For starters, you will be surprised with the overabundance of pleasantries and the cultural nourishments the country has to offer. Therefore, with the Great wall topping the list, here are ten must-see attraction sites in China.

The Great Wall of China

The Great Wall of China is one of the greatest wonders of the world. The wall of China is branded as Great because apart from it being huge, it is also one of the places from which you can see most parts of China.

You can have a walk on top of the wall itself, and in case you are not phobic to heights, you can opt for tram rides which are very epic and enjoyable. However, you can also slide down a mountain with a toboggan slide situated at the Mutianyu section.

The Great Wall is one of the places that you should include on the bucket list. After all, you can make the most out of your memories with perfect photoshoots from the scene.

Forbidden City

During the ancient times, the Forbidden City was home to the Chinese Emperors for more than 200 years. The City is at the center of Beijing which makes it a perfect place for the Imperial Palace.

The royal heritage of palace made sure the City was up to the essential standards of the majestic rule. The architect is no doubt complex but very stunning when you carefully look at its construction artistry. The Forbidden City is now integrated into a Palace Museum and as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Terracotta Army

This museum is an excellent place to learn more about the culture and history of China. Here you will find thousands of terracotta sculpted warriors, their chariots, and weapons. The army is sculpted as per the orders of the first emperor of China because he wanted protection even in his afterlife.

The sculptors are about 2000 years old and distributed in the museum into two pits. The museum has three pits, but the third one does not encompass the soldiers because it was meant for the commander’s office.

A tour of the museum takes about 2 – 3 hours and you can either choose to go with an audio guide or hire one at the museum.

Summer Palace

Yes, this a spot for the summer lovers and apart from it being serene and very calm, it is listed among the seven UNESCO World Heritage sites in Beijing. There are impeccable garden designs that will keep you in awe and continually admiring the landscape.

The whole area has a masterpiece aerial view constituting palaces, temples, halls, and bridges all assembled in harmony to give an outstanding and magnificent look. And for that, the native Chinese have branded the Summer Palace as Yihe Yuan which means Garden of Restful Peace.

The Summer Palace is globally recognized as the most extensive royal garden in China that is well-preserved up to date. You should not miss out to visit this historical monument when you are in China.

Potala Palace

This is another gorgeous-looking palace that was initially home to the Dalai Lama. The palace was established in the region of Tibet at around 17th Century operating till mid-20th Century. Although it is currently set as a museum, it still holds its form glory in the premises.

Guinness Book of World Records has the Potala Palace as the highest place in the world. This is because it is built in a remarkable architectural style. It is a place you don’t want to miss visiting.

Temple of Heaven

The Temple of Heaven signified by the triple-gabled circular structure is four times bigger than the Forbidden City. The ancient emperors spent most of their times in this temple praying and worshiping.

In the south of the Temple of heaven, there is a Circular Altar that was used for the ceremony of the annual winter solstice. It has three tiers, and the upper one is decorated with nine stone rings which represent the nine layers preluding to heaven. This is a beauty that you should get to see.

Leshan Giant Buddha

Any architectural enthusiast should come and see this eye-catching statue which is also enlisted as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The statue is 71 meters tall, and as if that’s not cool enough, it is also crafted out of a face of a cliff. This wonder situated in the Leshan City is something worth looking forward too.

Yuanyang Rice Terraces

The Yuanyang county in China is affluent in mountain slopes where you will get to see a plethora of rice filled terraces. The scenery of the landscape looks like a piece of art when viewed from the top of the mountains. Please be sure to see for yourself the kind of beauty you have never seen before.

Yungyang Grottoes

Come and experience the first-hand view of thousands of statutes assembled correctly in approximately 200 caves. This dazzling picturesque in the form of the Buddhist art is located near the city of Datong. It is an excellent place to start if you want to understand the origin of Buddhism.

Yangshuo

Yangshuo is the current trending city that has a large group of visitors going to see its attractive scenery. Almost similar to the Summer Palace, the city is abundant with temples, but more significantly it has smooth flowing rivers and noticeable caves.

The China community is very welcoming, and the complexity of their language cannot stop you from feeling at home. It is a vast country which even a 6-month vacation is not enough to visit all the best sites of the country. However, if you get a chance to visit the ten places mentioned above, it will be safe to say that you were indeed in China.
